WORDS Do Make a Difference

Did you see today’s Washington Post article about the several companies that have advertised extreme energy savings with their products that they simply cannot support? Fortunately, the FTC has put a stop to these exaggerated, unfounded statements that can only have served ultimately to harm the homeowners.  There is absolutely no doubt that our consumers are our greatest asset in this industry — to mislead the homeowner with outrageous figures on the energy savings with particular products only serves to lessen the strength and reputation of window replacement companies.

While replacement windows likely will make some difference in the comfort in the home, and certainly in the appearance as compared to older windows, it is a known fact in the home improvement industry that measurable energy savings are proven to be very difficult to substantiate in any case. National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is the trusted source for information on energy performance. Be sure to ask the contractor for the NFRC product labels.

We, at Windows Plus, are very particular about our marketing and advertising for a number of reasons. Most importantly, we expect to always protect you, the consumer/homeowner, as we do believe that you deserve honest and upright answers to your questions. The investment you make in your home is likely one of the largest ones you will make in your lifetime. Secondly, we do not intend to pass on heavy advertising costs to you and in this respect, we determine the reasonable marketing and advertising costs in our business and maintain those costs appropriately. Along these lines, we price our products as fair to you as is possible in our business. Fair does not mean one pricing schedule versus another; it does not mean stating one price and dropping to another for that “one-night close”; FAIR means that we price the products based on static factors, maintaining smart business values and serving the customers in the best ways that we can. We absolutely do not pass onto you exorbitant marketing costs; we strive to educate the consumer regardless of the choice in companies; and we feel good about ourselves at the end of the day.

Please call on Windows Plus for your questions, concerns, and whatever your interests in your home improvements may be. Regardless of the time of year, we are here to help. Every season has its climatic challenges and you may have specific needs that we can address. We have staff available to talk with you about energy factors, tax credits, or lack thereof, as the case may be. Thank you for your business always.  Reg and Tom, 703-956-6172 in Chantilly, Virginia.

“Job-Side Manners”

Windows Plus wants to remove your fears of making changes in your home. We realize that the decisions to replace windows, doors, siding or remodel your bathroom and kitchen can be daunting. But, our “job-side manners” will make a world of difference for you when the time comes for you to make home improvements!  Much like the relationship between the patient and doctor or nurse, the relationship between the customer and contractor has to be a comfortable one to experience the right outcome. We hear the horror stories of contractors who have pushed their way into the home — perhaps not literally, but emotionally. This never turns out well.

Windows Plus puts forth great effort to educate the homeowner on the ideal products for a particular setting and results. This is unusual in this industry; we hear that comment frequently. Excellent customer service and “job-side manners” are in our nature always — not something extra you pay for and never get. This should be the case for all contractors in the home improvement industry; but, we know that it is often not the case. We hear the stories from our customers and oftentimes, we are picking up the pieces from an incomplete job by others.

Let Windows Plus make the difference for you in your home. We offer you excellence in our services and products and expect that your experience with us will be a comfortable and successful one. Please contact Tom or Reg at 703-956-6172 for any questions about your home.

“What You Don’t Know Can Hurt You”

So, you got your proposal from the contractor and are excited about your new windows and doors. You look it over, feel pretty good about it and start to dream about your “new look.” You recall hearing advice about getting more than one estimate for your windows and doors, unless, of course, you know your contractor, have that trust in the company and know what you are truly getting.

So, you make an appointment with one more company; the contractor/salesperson or in the best of cases, the company owner, is working with you and you share the other proposal for comparison sakes. The person on the other side reviews the proposal and then asks you, “Out of curiosity, Ms. Jones, I was just wondering who is the manufacturer for these listed products so that I can provide you a true comparison?” “Well,” you think, “that’s right there on the proposal.” But, in fact, that is not the case. Information is MIA.

What you might see are adapted names of a window or door that the contractor carries as part of a relationship with a particular manufacturer. There is nothing wrong with this, unless, of course, you have no idea who that manufacturer is and what you are really getting with these particular products. You may have been told that this contractor is the only one to carry “X Windows and Y Doors.” That is certainly true in the sense that the contractor and manufacturer have a deal for these exclusive styles by name. But, that does you no good when you are left with little-to-no information on the products. How would you make any comparison if you do not know what you are getting? And, just imagine down the road if you ever needed to know about the manufacturer for service purposes. You could be left high-and-dry.

Long story short: KNOW your contractor – you will then know your manufacturer. Be sure to find out the specifics of the products you are getting ready to buy by asking the questions that will get you the answers. Don’t sell yourself short – you deserve to know the most you can about the investment you are getting ready to place in your home.

For more answers always, contact Tom or Reg at Windows Plus – 703-956-6172. We have the answers to alleviate any hesitations you might have about improving your home. Like so many before you, you can Trust Us! Thank you for your business – you make the difference for us.

I am writing here to make sure that you, homeowners in the Metropolitan Area, are not burdened with contractors who are pressuring you to make decisions on changes in your home. Poor economic times coupled with bad weather call for desperate measures, it seems, and this can result in a big issue for you. We see it all over the news – contractors who swindle and cajole, and leave homeowners high and dry. We want to make sure you know that you can call on us and trust our opinion and approach us, regardless of the economy. We take our business very seriously.

We have heard about contractors spreading rumors on other companies to try to get business, taking shortcuts, leaving jobs in the middle of the projects, and all due to money matters. Windows Plus relies on a sound and longstanding reputation to ensure that our customers, past, present and future, are serviced appropriately. We do not take our relationships lightly and we expect excellence at all levels of our work. If you have issues that you need to discuss, you can call us personally to ensure a quick resolution.

In these times, everyone is holding on tight. We want to help you make the right decisions for you and your home so that you can maximize your resources and have the best results. Call Reg, Tom or Kim at 703-956-6172 to talk about your home, your most solid investment. Thank you for your business, but more importantly, for your trust.
